Cornish Survey almost finished

The survey from Lizard Point around to Lands End is almost finished. The weather has been worse than last year, which is saying something, but Max, Rob and JP have done some sterling work, getting into areas which we never thought we would get in. For instance they collected 100% coverage data behind St Michael's Mount. The image is the survey coverage so far completed.

NetSurvey surveying at the extremes of the British Isles

NetSurvey are currently surveying off Lands End and also up in the Shetland Isles.

The Lands End survey is for Channel Coastal Observatory and the Maritme & Coastguard Agency. The survey is from Lizard Point to Lands End and extends from Mean Low Water Neaps out to 1 kilometre. Rob Bertram and Max Fisher are the NetSurvey personnel involved. They are running a Kongsberg EM3002 dual system with an Applanix POS MV 320 on the vessel Remote Sensor. The picture attached is of the vessel surveying with St. Michael's Mount in the background.

The survey in the Shetlands is also for the Maritime & Coastguard Agency and is part of NetSurvey's ongoing multi-year contract on the ETV Anglian Sovereign. Paul Robertson and Andy Sinclair are the senior surveyors up there. Already our survey has uncovered a 6m rock pinnacle where it was supposed to be 60 m of water on the chart! We submit H102s to the UKHO when we find significant differences to the charts which are then broadcast as a Notice to Mariners.

The Bermuda Marine & Ports Department contracted NetSurvey to perform the survey. We mobilised a RESON Seabat 8125 and an Applanix POS MV 320 onto one of the department's pilot vessels, the St David.

This image gives an overview of the area covered.
